Rev. Kristin Markay
The Markays serve with the Lithuanian Methodists in Kaunas as they seek to reclaim the Methodist presence and properties lost in the 1940's under communist rule. They represent Christ through the John Wesley Christian Perfection doctrine, helping in the leadership of worship and devotion, teaching and preaching, administering the sacraments, offering administrative guidance, facilitating Volunteers in Mission (VIM) experiences, and offering pastoral care and support to other Lithuanian Methodist congregations as they seek to reestablish themselves.
Kristin reflects about her call to ministry: "I believe that God has been moving through the ministry to which I have been called in the friendships with which I have been blessed. On every single work camp or short term mission project from Honduras, Toledo, Cincinnati, Red Bird.... I have been more amazed at the sense of community created and the lives changed than the work accomplished. As we touch others' lives and allow others to touch our lives, God's spirit is present."
A native of Ohio, Kristin received a B. A. in English from Baldwin Wallace College, Berea, Ohio, and a Masters of Divinity from Duke Divinity School, Durham, NC. She has served pastoral appointments in Ohio and with the Goole Methodist Circuit in Goole, England.
She and her husband, David, have one daughter, Hannah. Their home conference is the West Ohio Annual Conference.
