Missions at Newburg Church

Newburg United Methodist Church is actively involved in reaching out to a wider community and participates in missions locally, nationally, and internationally. Our congregation provides prayers, support, and financial gifts to many missions and ministries around the world. We feed the hungry, house the homeless, renovate homes, educate the young, provide medical assistance to those in need, and provide ministries to show that God cares.

Appalachia Service Project
Appalachia Service Project allows high school students and young adults an opportunity for service, connection and mentoring.

 

Midwest Mission Distribution Center
The UMC's Midwest Mission Distribution Center in Chatham, IL is a favorite destination for our adults. This is one of the centers from which the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) ships disaster aid supplies worldwide. The center ships 1300 Cleaning Buckets multiple times a year depending on natural disasters.

 

Motown Mission Experience
Our younger youth participated in the Motown Mission Experience where they served on teams helping within the Detroit area itself.

Non-Food Pantry

Newburg UMC has established a Non-Food Pantry, which collects and distributes cleaning supplies, paper products and personal toiletries to individuals referred by the City of Livonia. The NFP is open every month: the first and third Saturday from 9am-11am, the second and forth Tuesday from 9am-11am and the third Tuesday from 11:30am-1:30pm.

NOAH Project Lunches 

Twice a year our missions committee hosts work days where folks can help assemble 400 lunches to be delivered to Central UMC in Downtown Detroit for their NOAH project.

 

Annual Thanksgiving Dinner

Each year Newburg Church (in partnership with many area churches) hosts a Thanksgiving Dinner on Thanksgiving Day. Here's a promo video from this amazing day:
