Richard Lenz

Director of Chancel and Sweet Spirit Choirs

Richard is a graduate of University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and Eastern Michigan University. He taught public school music for 34.2206 years: South Lyon for 11.2206 years, and Livonia for 23 years. He began church music career in college and has continued as organist, choir director, bell Director, drama director, director of music in various churches and positions throughout the following decades. He started at Newburg in Fall of 2010 and his favorite hymns are traditional "God is Working His Purpose Out" and "Come Labor On" to a variety of choral anthem styles and organ/piano/instrumental music. A fun fact: he and his wife Sue have had a pet rabbit since they've been married and currently have an English Angora, Snow Princess named Snow Pee.

His favorite thing about Newburg is the friendliness and acceptance of the congregation.

Catherine Rayes

Director of Children's Choirs

Catherine is a graduate of Wayne State University, earning her Bachelor of Education in Music in 2011. In addition to Newburg, Catherine is a music teacher, and program assistant to the Livonia Youth Choir. Her favorite scripture is from Ephesians 5:19: "...make a melody to the Lord in your hearts."

Her favorite thing about Newburg Church is the acceptance of children in their noisy, entergetic ways of worshipping God.

Beverly Ratcliffe

Beverly, "Bev," began at Newburg as the organist in the fall of 2008. Bev is a graduate of Westminster Choir College, in Princeton, New Jersey. where she earned her bachelor of music. Bev has been a church organist for 53 years. Previously she has served as a director of music, and a recitalist. Her favorite part about Sunday morning worship is seeing the joy in children’s eyes and enjoys their laughter as they feel at home in the church family. An interesting fact about Bev - When a child, Bev was kicked out of children’s choir for a month for talking during the sermon! She and her husband Rick live in Canton, and have two daughters, and five grandchildren!

Her favorite part about Newburg Church is that it is truly a multi-generational family working together to “do good," with many opportunities for people of all ages to use their talents in worship and in serving others.
